| E-prescribing is the process by which prescription information is transferred electronically between prescribers and pharmacies belonging to an e-prescribing network. The benefits of e-prescribing include reduced healthcare costs, improved patient safety, and increased quality and efficiency in the administration of medications. For starters, electronic prescriptions eliminate the errors associated with poor handwriting. Additionally, they make it easier for doctors to prescribe medications that are preferred under a given patient's health plan and also help doctors meet therapeutic guidelines.
Praxis EMR v5 offers the most user-friendly e-prescribing functionality on the market. Most template-based systems require users to choose medications, dosages and frequencies each and every time. Praxis v5's e-prescribing feature puts doctors in control. Physicians write the prescription only once, and Praxis generates them automatically from then on.
The Surescripts Network
Praxis EMR v5 is certified to exchange information with pharmacies through Surescripts®, The Nation's E-Prescription Network. The Surescripts routing service acts as a neutral intermediary between prescribers and the pharmacies on the network.
To e-prescribe with Praxis EMR v5, Praxis users must first purchase the Surescripts Network Integration Service. This service provides:
- A dedicated e-Rx server 24/7.
- High-level privacy protection.
- Secure transmission and storage of e-prescribing data.
- Instant refill requests.
- Specialized e-Rx training.
