Training

Many Praxis trainers have been with Infor-Med for years, and have extensive experience in all specialties. The Praxis Training Program is one-on-one and is accomplished at your convenience, either onsite or online, or a combination of the two.

Praxis EMR training implementation:

  1. Online Training

  2. On-Site Training

The Online Praxis training is designed to supply the provider(s) with the basic knowledge needed to build their initial Praxis medical knowledge database(s). Furthermore, Praxis training is provided to all supportive medical staff and is specifically designed for their part of the Praxis implementation process (i.e. Nursing Tasks, Praxforms, Scanaway, Scheduler, etc.).

Online Praxis training may be enhanced with ON-SITE Praxis training. The on-site training is designed as a continuation of the online training where a Praxis trainer will help the provider(s) and medical staff to integrate Praxis into their daily office workflow. The main OBJECTIVE of on-site training is to ensure that Praxis is being used properly and effectively in the entire medical practice. The Praxis trainer achieves this by shadowing each provider and reviewing how the supportive medical staff make use of Praxis.

Both forms of training may occur either before or during the complete network Praxis installation. Providers are able to start training using an individual workstation or laptop with internet access. Training can take place in the office, at home, or at both locations. When the network system is ready, the medical knowledge created in training can be easily transferred.

Please see below for a more detailed overview of of Praxis EMR 4.0 training.

 ▪ Overview of Praxis EMR 4.0 Training

As a prerequisite, all Praxis EMR trainers have a minimum of two years medical transcription experience in addition to software training skills. Many Praxis trainers have been with Infor-Med for years, and have extensive experience in all specialties. The Praxis Training Program is one-on-one and is accomplished at your convenience, either onsite or online, or a combination of the two.

 ▪ O1. INDIVIDUALIZED INTERNET INTRODUCTORY TRAINING

A Praxis EMR trainer will be assigned to each provider. The provider and the trainer will coordinate a regular appointment schedule for Internet training over a 30 to 60 day period depending on how quickly the provider desires to learn Praxis EMR. Accelerated programs are offered upon request.

Each provider on the Praxis network receives 20 hours of Individualized Internet Introductory Training. During this one-on-one training, your Praxis EMR trainer will review all functionality of Praxis EMR with the provider (see below). Most significantly, this training time will be used to assist each provider in creating his/her Individual Praxis EMR Medical Knowledge Database.

To achieve this objective, a doctor will dictate to the Praxis EMR trainer his/her most common 30 to 50 patient diagnoses. This will become the doctor’s INITIAL individual medical knowledge database. Additionally, the doctor will be given homework assignments in the Praxis EMR training manual to complement the Internet training. Doctors within the medical practice will be encouraged to collaborate with other doctors in their medical practice.

RULE OF THUMB

New clients - Providers:

  • 20 hours for “lead” doctor (includes database building) – with lead doctor this includes discussion of “scratch” database or using one already built
  • 6-8 hours for returning doctors
  • Divided into 2-hour sessions

New clients - Assistants

  • Three 1-hour sessions before on site
  • Two 1-hour sessions with nurse/office manager to build agents if desired.

 ▪ 02. PRAXIS EMR ON-SITE TRAINING

During Praxis on-site training, the following functions and attributes of Praxis EMR will be reviewed with the medical practice office staff.

The Praxis EMR trainer will shadow the doctor(s) during his/her patient visits as a means of augmenting and improving the doctor(s) individual Praxis EMR medical knowledge database. The Praxis EMR trainer will also create additional imaginary patients for the doctor. During the On-Site Training, the Praxis EMR trainer will:

  • Shadow doctors as they build chart notes during the day
  • Shadow staff using scheduler, agents, and building pre-soap notes
  • Trouble-shoot/problem-solve to streamline Praxis to match office
  • Clinic will reduce scheduled appointments to leave room for Praxis building
  • Three 2-hour sessions working with any assistants using Praxis
  • One 3 to 4 hour session needed with nurse/office manager to build/work on agents

RULE OF THUMB

The number of On-Site Training days increases exponentially with the size of the office. For example, Praxis recommends 2 days for one doctor; 3 days for two to three doctors; 4 days for four to six doctors; etc. Please note that for the vast majority of Praxis EMR customers, the included Praxis training program is sufficient. We encourage you to begin with the training package included with your provider licensing. You may always elect to bring in additional onsite training if you feel it is necessary.
